The KFC worm scandal.

Well it was pretty much a shock to me when I heard this tale from a friend of mine. I was so curious to know why it happened that I did some investigation on my own about it. This scandal happened when the whole of Sri Lanka was over a problem where so many garment workers were in hospital after being food poisoned. All the PHI officers of the country were employed to check all food outlets in Sri Lanka. This is just when they got to know that there were some issues with the Hamden Lane, Wellawatta. This is when they thought of giving it a huge search to this particular KFC outlet.

It’s said that the worms were found in their chicken and they used old oil to fry their chicken. Based on these findings this KFC outlet was ordered to be closed and right now it is being renovated for a new shop to be opened.

I interviewed some people who ate here often and they expressed their disgust. One interviewee pointed out that she knew this outlet of KFC was not up to the standard as the employees were rude, ill tempered and not well trained. Some people complained that they have found hair in some of their burgers. 

While from personal experience I know that the famous KFC buriyani has raw rice in it while sometimes their chicken is raw. T o make things worse they charge for delivery while Pizza Hut gives free delivery. One lady who works at a KFC outlet in Aussie pointed out that KFC in Sri Lanka is hopeless and that it had untrained workers in this particular outlet.

So guys watch out what you eat because you don’t know what is in there. In Sri Lanka McDonald has a perfect food safety record so does Burger King and Pizza Hut. Well if you want to taste Sri Lankan cuisine please try Kama Sutra, Ministry of Crabs and Manhattan Fish Market.
